A few blocks from the ocean, The Rachel Carson High School for Coastal Studies offers students the chance to study marine biology at the school and to take excursions to the New York Aquarium. 

Students may design and build underwater robots in a marine technology course, according to the high school directory.

Opened in 2005, the school shares a building with MS 303  and Coney Island Charter Middle School.
