PS/IS 73 is being phased out and replaced after years of poor performance and concerns about safety. No new students were admitted in September 2013, and the phase-out will be completed in June 2016. A new elementary school, Brooklyn Landmark, and a new middle school, Brooklyn Environmental Exploration School (BEES) opened in September 2013. (June 2014)
