Our Insights

P.S. 21 Edward Hart in Flushing is a neighborhood school serving grades Pre-K through 5. The school is in its own building.

This school prepares students well to progress to the next grade and helps them improve their test scores, as compared to other schools with similar students. The school as a whole also performs well on test scores, as compared to other schools in the city. This school offers gifted classes through the Gifted and Talented program, which require a separate admissions process explained here. The Pre-K has lots of activities for children to explore art, nature, music, dramatic play and more, which are meant to develop a range of skills and promote a child's acceptance of diversity. Teachers ask children questions, invite back-and-forth conversation to develop language skills, mutual respect and promote positive social interactions. Children are encouraged to communicate and learn language skills through books, puppets or blocks. The principal has been leading this school since 2015.
