What’s Special
Students come from around the world; dual language Spanish classes
The Downside
More students than building was designed to hold.
MS 137 opened in 2002 in Ozone Park in a building designed to accommodate 1,500 children. Today, with close to 1,900 students, it's a school that serves students from around the world. Languages spoken include Spanish, Arabic, Dutch, Polish, Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi.
The four-story building, which sits next to an athletic field, houses an attractive library with high ceilings and lots of resources. Students may take classes in art, band, chorus, keyboard, dance, and technology.
There is a dual language class in Spanish and English.
Admissions: Zoned neighborhood school. (Clara Hemphill, web reports, April 2019)
