The P.S. 225 Seaside School building now houses a new middle school, Waterside School for Leadership, and new elementary school, the Waterside Children's Studio School. Both schools opened in 2009, while P.S. 225 was being phased out by the Department of Education.
P.S. 225 closed after the 2010-2011 school year. The DOE closed the school for poor academic performance, despite an attempt to reorganize the school in 2005.
