A neighborhood school on Staten Island's South Shore, IS 07, Elias Bernstein Middle School, serves an a moslty white, upper middle class community; the building is well-maintained, and student work is "prominently displayed as a source of pride and achievement," according to the Comprehensive Educational Plan.

IS 7 offers a wide variety of after-school programs, allowing students "to enjoy reading, writing, art, basketball, football, jazz band ensemble, percussion ensemble, drama, dance, sports and games," the CEP said.
