The Downside

School is closed

IS 117 closed in 2008 after years of struggling with low levels of academic achievement and a reputation for the unruly behavior of its students. The building, located on the border of Bed Stuy and Clinton Hill, now houses: the Brooklyn Prospect Charter Middle School, which opened with a 6th grade in 2016, the Brooklyn High School for Leadership and Public Service transfer high school and the Brooklyn Community High School of Communication, Arts and Media as well as a District 75 program.
