The Downside

Problems with discipline and order

Founded in 2006, this small school in the Adlai Stevenson Campus was designed to give kids lots of attention and continuity from grades 6 through 12. There are some nice extras: Students learn to dance with teachers from Alvin Ailey and put on musical productions such as Annie.

However, there are significant issues. The founding principal was never able to gain the trust of teachers; the second principal only lasted a year, and there is friction between staff and the third principal, Nalini Singh, according to school surveys. Both students and teachers complain about problems with order and discipline. (Clara Hemphill, DOE data, November 2018)
