Our Insights

John F. Kennedy closed in June 2014, replaced by small schools in the building. For your transcript or proof of graduation from Kennedy, call Bronx School of Law and Finance at 718-561-0113

The new small schools have their strengths:Marble Hill School for International Studies, the oldest and most established, serves new immigrants who are learning English and students interested in different cultures; Bronx Theater High School gives students a chance to create sets, make costumes and perform. Bronx School of Law and Finance offers themed classes with a mock courtroom and stock ticker; English Language Learners and International Support Preparatory Academy (E.L.L.I.S.),opened in 2008, takes English language learners over the age of 16. While Bronx Engineering and Technology Academy has a poor reputation, it has a graduation rate over 80 percent and an active robotics team; the two New Visions charter schools, New Visions Charter High School for Advanced Math and Science and New Visions Charter High School for Humanities, opened in 2011, offer a longer school day and small classes.
